About Opulessence Jewellery

I grew up in London, England and from an early age had a love of all things that glistened and sparkled. From the rainbow prisms on the crystal stopper of my Father’s port decanter to the sequins and metallic thread on my mother’s evening gowns, anything that shone and dazzled caught my eye.

Finding your creative outlet is exciting and I found my passion the very first time I made a piece of jewellery. My appreciation for beautiful things and my love of design have fuelled my desire to make high quality, elegant jewellery.

Inspiration for designs and colours are everywhere. It could come from a brightly coloured tea cup, a luxurious piece of brocade in luscious colours, vintage photographs, the catwalks or from the amazing beauty and stunning diversity of New Zealand, the country I am blessed to be living in.

I hope you enjoy my work as I showcase an elegant collection of beautiful, ever changing, classic designs to complement the accessories wardrobe of all stylish women.  Carol Henderson

Where is Opulessence Jewellery made?

All jewellery sold by Opulessence is hand made in New Zealand

What materials do you use?

We use a variety of high quality materials in each Opulessence design bought from all over the world.  One of our favourites is the brilliant Swarovski crystal that is recognised as the best leaded crystal in the world for jewellery and fashion designers.  A gorgeous selection of genuine freshwater pearls are frequently used due to their timeless grace and enduring popularity.

Opulessence Jewellery also uses custom made cubic zirconia stones that are often described as man-made diamonds and are made to our own specifications.  They are very dense and heavy and come in a dazzling array of beautiful cuts.  We also use a number of semi precious stones, sterling silver and gold filled beads and components. In addition to Swarovski, we ocassionally use small amounts of high quality Jablonex Czechoslovakian glass beads as accents and other top quality jewellery beads and components such as Sea Shell Pearls and Satin Ribbon.

All our threads and wires are professional jewellery makers grade making them tough and durable.

All materials will be clearly stated on the descriptions of each item.

What does "gold filled" mean?

Gold filled is different from gold plating and is much more expensive.  It has a much thicker layer of real gold, 50-100 times thicker than normal gold plating and 17-25 times thicker than heavy gold electroplate.  It is made by layering real gold over a base metal and then drawing the metal to the desired thickness and shape.  Gold-filled has a long life and can usually be worn by most people without reactions or difficulties.

What are Sea Shell Pearls?

Sea Shell Pearls are usually made from crushed oyster shells that have been reformed and coloured to produce beautiful, high quality, uniform shaped sea shell pearl beads with the appearance and texture of top quality freshwater pearls.

How do I pay?

You can pay Opulessence via internet banking (for New Zealand customers only).  We also accept credit and debit cards that are processed securely through Paymate (for Australia and NZ customers) and PAYPAL (for other countries).  You do not need a Paymate or PAYPAL account to pay Opulessence just follow the steps on the payment page.

How do I know my credit card payment is safe?

Opulessence Jewellery does not store or keep any credit or debit card details.  All card payments go through the secure Paymate and PAYPAL system and the funds are then forwarded to our account so that we never see your credit information.

How quickly can I expect to receive my jewellery?

Once your payment has cleared, your jewellery will be sent within 48 hours and depending upon your freight option, you can expect it to arrive between 1-5 days.  For overseas customers, expect shipping to take between 7-14 working days depending on which country you are ordering from.

How much is shipping?

NZ Courier (tracked) 1-3 days $6.70
NZ Parcel Post (tracked) 3-5 days $5.50
Standard NZ Post (no tracking) 2-5 days $1.70

Overseas shipping will be calculated and forwarded to you at the time of your order.

How do I look after my jewellery?

Try to store your crystal and pearl jewellery in a soft pouch or your gift box that arrived with your jewellery.  If you wear perfume or hair spray please apply these before putting on your jewellery as pearls are especially sensitive to cosmetics.  Pearls are made to be worn and enjoyed, storing them away for "best" can alow them to dry slightly and loose their lustre.  Skin oils can help keep your pearls lucious looking when worn regularly.
